LAREDO - As news of junior hockey coming to the Rio Grande Valley has spread, more hockey news has popped up out west. Investors tied to the NAHL also have an interest in placing a team in Laredo. North American Hockey League commissioner Mark Frankenfeld tells Channel 5 Sports he's aware of people engaged in talks with the market. From a geographical point-of-view, Frankenfeld says new teams in the Valley and Laredo would fit within the footprint of the NAHL. The south division currently has teams in the Texas towns of Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Odessa, Frisco, and Corpus Christi. Another NAHL member in Topeka, Kansas gives the south division a total of six teams.
