Nearly $5 million worth of drugs are off Valley streets. Customs and Border Protection officers made five separate busts at several international bridges during the past week.
Three busts happened at the B&M International Bridge in Brownsville.
Two 22-year-old Valley residents were detained in two separate incidents, and nearly 40 pounds of coke were confiscated. The cars they were driving, a Jeep Liberty and a Pontiac Sunfire, are now in CBP hands.
Plus, a Matamoros man driving a Chevrolet Venture was caught with 21 packages of marijuana weighing more than 57 pounds.
In Pharr, a Reynosa man was caught with more than 40 pounds of cocaine. The drugs were hidden in the car he was driving.
The largest of all the busts was also at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge. CBP officers stopped a Freightliner tractor and discovered more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana.
All the men were turned over to ICE special agents. The drugs and vehicles were seized by CBP officers.
