New GEAR UP Program in Raymondville

The GEAR UP excitement is going straight to the top in Willacy County.

Sabrina Garza Franco is the principal at Myra Green Middle School in Raymondville.

It's not the biggest of school districts in the Valley, but it's got a huge amount of excitement brewing over the schools newly implemented GEAR UP program.

The principal says the school has 146 lucky 7th graders who are going to have a chance of a lifetime.

The goal is to get everyone one of these GEAR UP students ready and able for college. The principal says it starts with a few basic elements.

GEAR UP will also help these students gear up for the new upcoming assessment test called STAAR.
