PROGRESO - Border Patrol agents said no one was hurt in a chase that ended with a fire.

It happened yesterday. A driver refused to pull over for authorities and instead drove into a sugarcane field, near the Progreso park.

The group of suspected illegal immigrants ditched the vehicle and took off running. Something from the car caught part of the field on fire. Firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to nearby neighborhoods.

A Border Patrol spokesperson said agents searched the area and found seven immigrants. We're told two others likely got away.

The Border Patrol spokesperson added they're reviewing this chase, but more information isn't available since it's an ongoing investigation.
