WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama is soliciting advice Wednesday from his party's senators, and the voices of some Democrats may come through louder than others.

Roughly half of the 53 Democratic senators are facing re-election this year, and they are causing jitters for Obama and the party. Many of those Democrats are actively seeking ways to distance themselves from a president who is deeply unpopular in their home states.

Obama is reaching out to Democratic lawmakers after laying out his agenda for the year in last week's State of the Union address. He's traveling Wednesday to the Washington Nationals' baseball stadium, where Senate Democrats are holding a private summit.

On Tuesday Obama hosted House Democrats in the East Room of the White House.
