DENVER (AP) Dish Network says it plans to close about 300 of its Blockbuster stores across the country. About 3,000 employees will lose their jobs. A company spokesman says the employees were informed about the latest closures on Friday. No store locations have been announced.
NEW DELHI (AP) A rape and murder case that has sparked national outrage in India is set to start on Thursday. Five men are accused of the brutal attack aboard a public bus in New Delhi. A judge has rejected a defense request to keep the trial proceedings closed. The defendants' faces were covered at a hearing on Monday.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Disturbing details are emerging from court documents in the case of a New Mexico teenager accused of fatally shooting his parents and three younger siblings. They were killed in a home southwest of Albuquerque. A statement says the 15-year-old reloaded a rifle taken from his parents' closet so that he could "drive to a populated area to murder more people."
TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) Jason Wu may have won international recognition for twice designing inaugural gowns for U.S. first lady Michelle Obama, but judges in in his native Taiwan seem unimpressed. A court there ruled Monday that Wu's new label "Miss Wu" could not be registered as a brand because it was not distinctive enough. His latest creation for the first lady, which she wore Monday night, is a shiny red halter-top gown.
