PALMVIEW - The Hidalgo County Sheriff's office needs your help in finding a vehicle connected to a drive-by shooting.
They're looking for a silver or gray Mustang. No one was hurt in the shooting.
But the family who was targeted thinks they should have been protected.
Shattered glass is still falling from the front door.
Bullets were sprayed through this house last night, piercing the couch, pillows and walls.
"They were in the street and that's where they shot, they shot the door, the impact hit all inside the house."
The family asked us to hide their identity for protection. They say the drive-by shooting is retaliation.
"It was a problem that started 15 days ago," says one of the family members.
Sheriff's tape marks the spot where Hidalgo County deputies were first called to El Lucero Drive two weeks ago.
The family says one of their family members was arrested and charged for a stabbing murder on April 19.
"The investigator said nothing will happen, nothing will happen, and look at what happened last night," said the family member.
Investigators say they are not required to increase security after an act of violence in a neighborhood.
"It all comes down to individual cases. I can't really say that every case is treated the same," says Commander John Montemayor, Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.
Commander Montemayor says they will increase patrols after a request is made.
"We try to have our deputies always patrol on a normal basis, but normally we go by request," said Montemayor.
The family of six, who was in this room just minutes before the drive by, says they did request more patrols after they received threats.
"They were going to avenge us, they were going to avenge us, and what happened last night? They avenged us, and the police don't do anything," said the family member.
The commander says he's looking into that claim. They have now added more patrols to this street.
The family has added their own security measures. Investigators are no checking the family's security cameras.
