MCALLEN - Federal officials are working to prepare a new processing facility for unaccompanied immigrant children in McAllen.

The abandoned warehouse off Ware Road isn't far from the current Border Patrol station in McAllen. The site will be used only to process unaccompanied minors.

The U.S. General Services Administration leased the 55,000-square foot building and applied for permits with the city to remodel it. There's no word yet when the facility will be ready for use.
