PHARR - The Pharr Police Department on Tuesday gave CHANNEL 5 NEWS access to video footage of an investigation at an archeological site.
The video shows investigators sifting through dirt at a construction site where workers discovered human bones. The discovery was made on Feb. 11 off Ridge Road.
The video shows a large spherical object covered with soil. Investigators said it was the skull of what forensic experts determined was a girl who died hundreds of years ago.
The remains could be up to 600 years old.
Photographs of evidence collected at the site show a box with small bone fragments. Those were the bones sent to a laboratory at the University of North Texas last week. Scientists determined the remains likely were of a girl indigenous to the area.
The bones were reburied at the site, 4 feet deeper than where they were found. A tribal ceremony was held to mark the reburial.
