QUETTA, Pakistan (AP) A bomb planted in a car exploded inside a residential compound in southwest Pakistan on Sunday, killing five people including two woman and two children, police said.
The blast in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, destroyed the home and damaged three other adjoining buildings, wounding 10 more people, said police official Hamid Shakeel
He did not have any more details on the victims.
Baluchistan has for years been hit by an ethnically based insurgency demanding more rights and a greater share of the income generated from gas and minerals being extracted from their areas. These groups have been blamed for killing people of other ethnicities as well as security and government officials.
Islamist militants are also active in the province and sometimes target minority Muslim Shiites.
Shakeel said the motive behind the attack was not yet known.
