PHARR - A driver smuggling illegal immigrants leads Border Patrol on a chase through five Valley cities.

It began in Weslaco when a concerned citizen called to report a group of people being loaded into a truck.

Border Patrol agents attempted to pull over the grey truck, but the driver took off and even hit another vehicle at Cage Blvd. and Las Milpas Road in Pharr.

The driver began throwing spikes on the road. The chase ended at Moore Road and FM 907 in Alamo.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS talked with an eyewitness.

"I was just inside when I heard the noise where the truck crashed. They were being chased by Border Patrol. When they crashed, the immigrants all jumped out," said an eyewitness who asked not to be identified.

Twenty-three illegal immigrants were taken into Border Patrol custody. Five were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
