WESLACO - Police are investigating a rash of burglaries at a Weslaco shopping center parking lot.

The thefts happened this weekend just north of Expressway 83 on Westgate Drive.

Police said the vehicles were park in unlit areas when thieves broke in.

"My laptop and a text book of a class that I'm teaching next semester (were stolen). The textbook was a $150 text book. It was brand new," Dina Villarreal said. Her car was burglarized Friday night.

Villarreal said the laptop and other items were covered with a blanket in her locked car. The thieves did not break any of the windows, she said.

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call Weslaco Crime Stoppers at 956-968-8477.
