HIDALGO COUNTY - The Hidalgo police chief says his department is working to keep illegal immigrants with criminal records off the streets.
Many of those immigrants have reentered the country after they were deported. Several of those criminals were in courts in Hidalgo and Cameron counties on Friday. Their crimes ranged from assaults to indecency with a child.
"We continue to work at it on a daily basis to try and intervene and even apprehend these whoever is attempting to cross back into country after being deported," Hidalgo Police Chief Rudy Espinoza said.
Espinoza said he thinks Border Patrol agents are doing everything they can to keep the criminal illegals out of the country.
