EDINBURG – More than one person is still looking for their security deposit check from a landlord in Edinburg.

A renter told CHANNEL 5 NEWS he followed his contract, but still hasn’t received his deposit back. 

Sergio Robles was a University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Ph.D student at the time and rented with the previous owners.

Now, Robles is living in Ohio and is still waiting for his $150 security deposit.

We went to the Palms Apartments, formally known as UTRGV Apartments and asked for the new managers.

Management says they purchased the property from the previous owner only a week ago.

They also said other former tenants like Robles have been coming by asking for their security deposit.

Attorney Jaime Cavazos explained what might happen when a new owner takes over.

Cavazos says renters who want to make a complaint should file a report at the Texas Attorney General's Office website.
