BROWNSVILLE - Prosecutors will seek the death penalty for one suspect in the murder and kidnapping of a Brownsville man.

Abraham Parra is charged in the kidnapping and murder of Reyes Bocanegra. The kidnapping happened on July 18 at a restaurant in west Brownsville.

Parra and six others allegedly took Bocanegra at gunpoint. Police found the victim's body less than an hour later inside his SUV just north of Rancho Viejo.

Police said the death is cartel related and linked to a Mexican prison gang.

Prosecutors said they only would seek the death penalty for Parra.

Police said a seventh suspect, Orlando Perez, is wanted in the case.
