JOPLIN, Mo. - A small group of children are getting together in a small room to share a passion for guitars. A massive tornado last May inspired CHANNEL 5 NEWS viewers to donate instruments.

More than 70 guitars left the Rio Grande Valley and made their way to Joplin, helping children who lived through their worst find their best.

Joplin High School Principal Steve Gilbreth founded the guitar club, calling on any student who wanted to play the guitar to come in and learn.

"It's that desire to make music and share it with people that gets me up every day," he says.

Before the Valley's donation, Gilbreth never had enough guitars for the students who wanted to play them. He would go to garage sales and buy used ones. Thanks to your donations, he no longer has too.
