LONDON - It was a tough day for Rio Grande City native Stephen Saenz competing at the Olympics.
Many in the RGV got up at 4 a.m. to watch Saenz compete in the shot put. He represented Mexico in the competition.
CHANNEL 5 Sports Director Vince Erickson says saenz scratched on his first throw. Saenz's second attempt was 18.65 meters, but he scratched his third. He didn't make the finals and ended up finishing 32nd.
Saenz's parents told us decided to root for him from here at home.
