Ringleader in Drug Smuggling Operation Sentenced

MCALLEN - A judge handed down a life sentence to the leader of a drug smuggling ring.
Rigoberto Munoz-Vargas admitted to planning to deliver a shipment of pure meth to his girlfriend's apartment in Houston.
The investigation that spanned two and a half years revealed Munoz-Vargas and his partners smuggled cocaine and marijuana through the Rio Grande Valley. The ring was linked to nine different drug seizures in the Valley.
