Sandy in back of Easterners' minds as snow falls

NEW YORK (AP) For many in the Northeast, the warnings were eerily familiar: Stock up on food and water. Stay off the roads. Be prepared to lose power.
The snowstorm sweeping through the region brought with it echoes of Superstorm Sandy. It's nowhere near as powerful, but that isn't stopping residents from dreading what a new storm could bring.
The new storm could drop 8 to 16 inches on the areas hardest hit by Sandy in New Jersey, New York City, Long Island and Connecticut. A moderate storm surge is possible, too.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says nothing like Sandy's surge is expected.
Forty-three-year-old Leeann Rivera of Queens says that "if we were talking about the type of damage that Sandy did, I'd be gone."
