HIDALGO COUNTY - A man accused of shooting his brother-in-law on Christmas Eve was arrested on Wednesday and was charged with attempted capital murder on Thursday, but not before he tried to escape from police.
Arnulfo Silguero went before a judge Thursday to face charges in the Christmas Eve shooting. Officials also added a charge for the escape attempt.
Officials said Silguero assaulted an officer and tried to flee shortly after his capture Wednesday.
"In the process of transporting him over there, he did escape from one of our officers and ended up assaulting him, but he was apprehended a block away from the Alamo Police Department," San Juan Police Sgt. Rodolfo Luna said.
Silguero was fitted with electrodes for Thursday's arraignment hearing. The electrodes were hooked up to a teaser.
A judge set his bond at one million dollars.
