WESLACO - Six Valley high school baseball players are enjoying All-State recognition after an announcement from the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association. First-team honors are going to a pair of Sharyland players, shortstop Tres Barrera and outfielder Eric Gutierrez. The lone 4A first-team selection is Rio Grande City second baseman Jorge Marroquin. Three more players are second-team choices. McAllen Memorial outfielder Bryant Stites, Rio Grande City outfielder Mario Benavides and Rio Hondo second baseman Alexander Garcia have also been honored.
