BROWNSVILLE - Dr. Carl Montoya was named as the sole finalist for the Brownsville school district superintendent post. The school board trustees made the announcement at their board meeting Tuesday night.
Montoya has served as the district's interim superintendent since June. That's when then-superintendent Brett Springston resigned. Montoya, an educator with 35 years of experience, was at that time the Area Assistant Superintendent for the Rivera cluster schools.
Montoya has been with Brownsville ISD for the last four years. Prior to his time in Brownsville, he served as the superintendent for Aransas Pass Independent School District for six years.
