AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Some schools in Central Texas have delayed the start of classes due to icy roads and freezing weather as other parts of the state deal with snow.
The National Weather Service recorded light snow Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth, Abilene, Midland-Odessa, San Angelo and Lubbock.
The University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University in San Marcos announced the campuses would open at 10 a.m. CST Thursday due to winter weather, such as icy roads. The Austin Independent School District also cited weather and road conditions for pushing back the start of school by two hours Thursday.
Forecasters issued a winter weather advisory for the Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland and Plainview areas through midday Thursday.
