HARLINGEN - Local and state authorities are investigating activities at one Cameron County strip club. They're concerned about what CHANNEL 5 NEWS undercover cameras caught inside.
We got concerned when we started hearing from people who worked here. Ex-employees telling us sex is for sale. Jaguars claims it's about the music, the girls, the dancing.
"It's like I'm sorry to say this, but they run a whore house. They know they run a whore house, and they know that's how they make their money," says a former dancer at the club.
A former dancer from the club we'll call "Sarah" spoke to CHANNEL 5 NEWS.
"They know that's what their particular customers go for, and we do get customers from all across the country. Jaguars in Harlingen is like the place to go, and anything goes," she says.
She says girls take the guys upstairs to do whatever they want.
"You don't know how many people, how many requests a day I would get. So how much for everything? I'm like, sorry I don't do that. Nothing? Nothing. They would be insistent, and I got asked maybe 5-10 times a night."
She says other dancers were more willing.
"You know what? They really had me fooled. I really thought that every club was like that."
Undercover CHANNEL 5 staffers went inside Jaguars three times in three weeks. Our hidden cameras caught a dancer leading one of our male employees upstairs to the private room. She offered us a menu of what she could do.
"The ladies would tell me it would go between 200. I know there was a really pretty lady who would charge like $400 or $500."
Jordan Williams asks, "For sex?"
She says, "Yeah, there's some of them that do it outside of work."
Jordan asks, "Make house calls?"
She says, "Yeah."
An audio recording we made inside confirmed the dancers' prices.
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "How much would it cost?"
Dancer, "I want $150."
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "$150 For what?"
Dancer, "$150 For all of it."
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "What is all of it?"
Dancer, "All play with you and me."
She even encouraged our staffer to act while not many people were in the club.
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "But you're telling me we'll get to have sex?"
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "Tell me that."
Our staffer also talked to another dancer.
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "If you were single, what would you be able to do with me?"
Dancer, "Anything you wanted."
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "Like what?"
Dancer, "I would become your fantasy girl."
CHANNEL 5 EMPLOYEE, "And what would you do?"
Dancer, "Anything you ask me to."
Dancer, "I would charge you about $800 for 'girl-on-girl' action and videotape."
Dancer, "Just you and me, you want me the whole night? $500."
Another ex-Jaguars employee says this sort of thing happens all the time.
"A lot of girls do a lot of things for a short amount of cash, I guess you could say."
Jordan asks, "Was prostitution a problem?"
Ex-employee says, "Prostitution, it's a very big problem."
Jordan asks, "Does management just turn their head?
Ex-employee says, "Exactly. That's all they do."
Jordan asks, "They know about it?"
Ex-employee says, "They know about it."
CHANNEL 5 NEWS went to management to get an explanation.
Jordan says, "Hey, sir. How are you? I'm Jordan Williams, CHANNEL 5."
Manager says, "Mr. Williams. How are you?"
Jordan says, "Good. I just wanted to ask you. We've been working on a story. We've sent undercover staff members in here a couple times, and three different times by mutiple dancers they got solicited to have sex upstairs."
Manager says, "Oh, yes? Wow. Well, actually I really couldn't give you an answer for that, a comment. You'd have to wait to speak to the GM. He's unavailable right now."
Jordan asks, "Is prostitution allowed here? Excuse me? Is prostitution allowed?"
Manager says, "Those are answers that I apologize that I can't give you."
CHANNEL 5 NEWS got a phone number for Jaguars owner.
Jordan says, "Hello? Hi, I'm trying to reach Niko. Hi, Niko. This is Jordan Williams. I'm calling from KRGV-TV down in the Valley. How are you, sir?"
Niko Foster says, "Pretty good."
Jordan asks, "Are you affiliated with Jaguars?
Niko says, "I'm the owner of the corporation."
Jordan says, "Oh, wow. OK. Our staffers have been offered sex by dancers."
Niko says, "Really."
Jordan says, "Yes, sir."
Niko says, "OK."
Jordan asks, "And I didn't know if that was something that was standard operating procedure there? Are you aware that there's apparently prostitution going on there?"
Niko says, "Well, I better turn the rest of this conversation over to our attorneys. OK."
We talked to Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio and explained what happened to us while we were undercover. He says he's sent deputies into Jaguars several times and they haven't witnessed prostitution. He promises to keep an eye on the place.
Sarah says, "I would go home with between like $200 to $500 a night. I know the girls that do the extra stuff would go home with like $1,000 a night. That's the kind of money they were making."
Now, she's working at another nightclub.
"I think they should be like shut down because there's like I don't know how many violations."
Her ex-coworker agrees.
"Big, big whore house," he says.
Jordan asks, "Do you think Jaguars in Harlingen should be shut down?"
Man replies, "I believe so. I would thank the person myself that did it. It's just too much stuff that goes on there."
Until local or state investigators catch dancers selling sex, the party will go on the Cameron County strip club. We left a message with the owner asking for the Jaguars' attorney to call us back. We're still waiting for a response.
