PROGRESO - Parents are worried about speeding drivers near three schools on FM-1015 in Progreso.
Kristy Villarreal said drivers don't slow down near the schools. She walks her children to one of the schools.
"My kids are in that school. There's lights on for a reason ... for the safety of our children," Villarreal said.
Flashing speed-zone signs are posted on both ends of the road.
The speed zone is active during the school day.
Progreso Police Lt. David Hernandez is in charge of stopping speeders on the stretch of road.
"I'm stationed at the high school so I try to do as much as I can out here. I know we need to beef it up a little bit more," Hernandez said.
Hernandez is the only one on duty on the stretch of road.
