SOU8TH PADRE ISLAND - Police on South Padre Island are working to determine what led to the death of a student from New Jersey.

The 23-year-old was found dead in his hotel room Wednesday morning.

Police have identified him as Gerald Plescia of Freehold, New Jersey. Officers say he arrived at South Padre Island on Monday with a group of friends from college.

The group planned on spending the entire week at the island. Officers do not suspect foul play.

A toxicology report and autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
