STARR COUNTY - Investigators continue searching for a suspect linked to a shooting Wednesday in Escobares.

Officials said the suspect used an assault rifle to shot at a car. One person was injured. Investigators said the victim is not cooperating with the investigation.

The victim was sitting in his car at the corner of Martinez and Lopez streets at approximately 4:30 p.m. when the shooting happened.

Officials said the suspect used a .223-caliber rifle during the assault.

Thursday morning, police responded to a home invasion on FM 649 east of Rio Grande City. Officials say the masked gunmen were looking for the victim of Wednesday's shooting.

"We don't have any idea. We can't talk to him. We don't know why he's not coming forward," said Starr County Violent Crimes Capt. Homer Flores.
