CAMERON COUNTY - Border Patrol agents are trying to determine if human smugglers are switching tactics in their attempt to move illegal immigrants north.
The concern comes after police and agents found 90 illegal immigrants at a stash house in north Brownsville.
The incident shocked area residents.
"It's hard to believe. Ninety people in the house," Jorge Hernandez said. He was a previous tenant of the house where the bust happened.
"I leave very early in the morning and come back late at night. I had no idea this was happening," Araceli Hernandez said. She lives near the house.
"I don't know how many people. ... A few people were escaping from the top window," Letisha Vella said.
Agents said it was one of the largest busts ever made in Brownsville.
"I don't trust anybody. It depends on the people because you never know who lives next to you," Vella said.
