TEXAS - The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) wants everyone to be aware of a group calling themselves the Consumer Insurance Association.

Consumer Insurance Association is not a licensed insurance company or agency in Texas.

TDI Officials say the callers offer to lower the cost of your car insurance. They will ask about your current auto insurance coverage to check your eligibility, they're hoping you will reveal personal information.

A TDI spokesperson says the group will mention big insurance companies to gain your trust.

You can check if an insurance agent or agency is real at the TDI website or by calling 1-800-252-3439.
