LONGVIEW, Texas (AP) — A former band teacher in Longview faces up to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.
No sentencing date was immediately set for 59-year-old Albert F. Slatter Jr. He was taken into custody pending sentencing.
Slatter in April pleaded not guilty, but on Tuesday switched his plea as part of a plea agreement. A second charge, possessing a hard drive with pornographic images, will be dropped.
Slatter, who was an assistant band director with the Longview Independent School District, was fired earlier this year when the charges surfaced.
The criminal complaint says Slatter knowingly possessed one or more visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The complaint also says the depictions had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce.
