HOUSTON (AP) — A now-former bank teller in Houston who stole money by changing withdrawal and deposit slips faces up to 30 years in prison.
The U.S. attorney's office on Wednesday announced 27-year-old Angela Harris pleaded guilty to three counts of bank fraud. Harris, who worked for Wachovia Bank, was indicted in August.
Prosecutors say Harris admitted defrauding the bank and some customers by forging and altering withdrawal and deposit slips to steal nearly $18,000.
Harris, who is free on bond pending sentencing Jan. 26, 2010, faces a fine of up to $1 million.
