WASHINGTON (AP) Rank-and-file lawmakers are hoping that their leaders will give them some kind of budget agreement to vote on when they return to Capitol Hill Monday morning. Senate Republican and Democratic leaders remain at odds over key issues such as the income threshold for higher tax rates and how to deal with inheritance taxes.

WASHINGTON (AP) Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is being treated for a blood clot in a New York hospital. Her spokesman says doctors discovered the clot Sunday during a follow-up exam, and that it stems from the concussion she sustained when she fell at home earlier this month while recovering from a stomach virus.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) Venezuela's vice president says the condition of President Hugo Chavez is delicate after suffering "new complications" following his cancer surgery in Cuba. Chavez has not been seen or heard from since undergoing his fourth cancer-related surgery Dec. 11, and government officials have said he might not return in time for his scheduled Jan. 10 inauguration for a new six-year term.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) Authorities say nine people were killed and more than 20 injured Sunday when a tour bus careened through a guardrail along an icy east Oregon highway and 100 feet down a steep embankment. The bus driver is among the survivors, but was seriously injured and hasn't yet spoken to police.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Kanye West are expecting their first child. The rapper announced at a concert Sunday night that his girlfriend is pregnant. Kardashian married NBA player Kris Humphries in August 2011 and their divorce is not yet finalized.
