BROWNSVILLE - A kidnapping victim was found shot to death inside his car. Investigators are trying to find the people responsible.

They say a group of men entered the Playa Del Azul restaurant and took the 22-year-old at gunpoint. It happened at around 12:30 p.m. The men also tied up six employees and left them in the kitchen.

Police say the 22-year-old's body was found about a half an hour later. The victim was in the back of his white SUV on Roberta Road. He had been shot to death.

One of the SUV's windows was shattered. There are reports of the victim struggling with kidnappers on the expressway. Another report states the victim was hitting his windows against the window.

Police are still talking to witnesses.

"This seems planned and coordinated," said Brownsville Interim Police Chief Orlando Rodriguez. "The information we're getting is that these individuals... came in, overtook the establishment, destroyed video equipment."

However, officers say they do have surveillance video of the men entering the restaurant. They're hoping that can help identify the suspects.

If you have any information in the case, you're asked to call Brownsville Crimestoppers at 956-546-8477.
