BROWNSVILLE - Two people shot at a Brownsville bar are recovering. Investigators are looking into the shooting suspect's claims of self-defense.

The man told officers he fired two shots because he feared for his life. It happened at the Toucan's Lounge around 2 a.m.

Police report one of the shooting victims and several friends surrounded the suspect's car. Witnesses told officers the victim grabbed the man's arm and tried to start a fight. Police said that's when the man grabbed a handgun and shot twice to fend them off.
