EDINBURG - A man arrested in El Paso on bank robbery charges will go on trial in the Rio Grande Valley for the 2005 murder of an Edinburg man.

Claudio Alberto Morales, 41, will stand trial for Arturo Noe Sanchez's death. Police said the alleged killer took cash and the victim's SUV.

Police had no strong leads for five years. It took nearly another five to bring the suspect back to the Valley.

Authorities finally got a break in the case in January, 2011. Police got a match on DNA evidence collected at the time of Sanchez's death. Officials said the DNA matched Morales.

Sanchez was an administrator with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. He also was a former teacher in McAllen and Edinburg.
