Texas Insturments has been part of the GEAR UP program for more than 15 years. Eric Batten works in systemic initiatives for Texas Instruments.
"We are excited. We celebrate their successes. We know with the last grant over 60 percent of those kids were deemed college ready in mathematics which is the initiative that we really worked on, so we are excited to celebrate those accomplishments with Region One and also with the parents and students of those students as they take the next step and enter college and feel more prepared and ready to be successful."
Batten says Texas Instruments is helping prepare these kids for new technology headed our way.
"Texas Instruments, our Education Technology Division is to help build the next work force in math and science, basically so that Texas Instruments will have the resources they need to develop the next technology that is needed in the world."
But Batten says it's not just about the technology, it's also about getting these kids ready for the workforce.
"So we're excited to be working with math and science teachers with parents and students with Region One education service center GEAR UP grant, all of those people at the table and making sure that the students are successful and are able to be successful in math and science."
