Texas Rangers Investigating Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Edinburg

UPDATE (2/7): Officers involved in the deadly shooting are now on administrative leave.

At a press conference Thursday afternoon, Edinburg police said the officers opened fire after the man tried to stab them. Watch the full press conference below.

The suspect 48-year-old Hunter Alan was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and later died.

The Texas Ranchers are now investigating the shooting.

EDINBURG – An investigation is underway into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Edinburg.

It happened Wednesday night on the 2900 block of Pablo Street.

Officers responded to a suicidal male who was threatening to hurt himself and others.

The male had a knife and headed towards officers which led them to shoot the man to protect themselves.

The male died at the scene.
