HARLINGEN - Tuesday was the final night of not only the girls' bi-district basketball round, but of the regular season schedule for Valley boys. Tip Off Tuesday starts with Bird Bowl, basketball style. The boys from Harlingen and Harlingen South play for the 31-5A championship. And after Harlingen's 60-55 victory, the two schools will share the district title. Two more Valley girls' teams have advanced to the area round along with La Feria, a team with a first round bye as 32-3A winners. Valley 4A champ Hidalgo rolled into a second round match-up with Gregory-Portland after an 83-32 thrashing of Alice in Pharr. Nikki Rowe will also face an area game after a 50-39 win against Laredo LBJ. Other girls' bi-district action saw Alexander defeat Mission 66-26, Moody edged Mission Veterans Memorial 51-47 and Woodsboro knocked off La Villa 52-34.
