McALLEN - His second NBA tour of duty was even shorter than the first. One day after being called up from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to the parent Houston Rockets, center Greg Smith has been assigned back to the D-League with the Vipers. The announcement of Smith's call-up to the Rockets on Wednesday came shortly after learning he'd been named as the Vipers' only representative in the upcoming NBA D-League All-Star game. Players have to be active in the D-League to play in that game. Smith did not see action in the one NBA game he had eligibility, the Rockets' Wednesday night win in Portland. Smith's first NBA time with Houston came during training camp last December when he played in a pair of pre-season games. His return means he'll be active when the Vipers face Austin on Friday night at State Farm Arena.
