NEAR MISSION - A retired couple north of Mission says they have a trash problem on their hands and didn't know where to turn, so they called CHANNEL 5 NEWS.
Victor and Noelia Balderrama have lived on the same three acre property since 1986. They said until late last year, they never had a problem with illegal dumping on their property.
They say they've even reported the illegal dumping to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's office back on November 28, 2011 when they found possible evidence investigators might be able to use.
"I got this at the garbage dump that they were dumping on my land and it's addresses. This was in November and I waited for two weeks like he told me, but nothing happened," says Noellia Balderrama.
Now the family says the illegal dumping is becoming a health hazard.
"I don't like to live in the dirt, roaches and rats and all that. It's garbage," says Victor Balderrama.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke with Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino. He tells us his department is working to recover evidence it can share with the trash abatement officer at the constable's office.
