Valley Military Pilot Dies in Afghanistan

SAN JUAN - A Rio Grande Valley military pilot has been killed in Afghanistan. Jose Luis Montenegro, 32, died when his helicopter crashed.
Montenegro served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in Houston. He lived in Houston and San Juan, his family said.
Military officials said the Taliban is claiming responsibility for shooting down Montenegro's helicopter, but that claim has not been confirmed.
