McALLEN - A kidnapping and shooting victim on Tuesday told investigators about the moments before an unknown man shot him in the head.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said the victim was seriously injured. Still, he told investigators he was shot at about 9 a.m. Tuesday near McCook.
Deputies got a call around 9:45 a.m. about a shooting. The shooting happened near FM 490 and FM 681. Trevino said the victim told investigators he was kidnapped that same morning in McAllen near Trenton and 23rd Street.
"He's given us a lot more then what you would expect from somebody shot in the head. (He) described the vehicles involved and the weapon used. He's given us a lot of information so we can initiate our investigation," Trevino said.
Investigators found a revolver believed to be used in the shooting just north of where the man was found. The sheriff said there are also signs of a struggle in the area.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS spotted DPS troopers, Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies, and Precinct 3 constables at the two scenes.
The sheriff said he'd be coordinating with the McAllen Police Department, since the victim said he was kidnapped in the city.
