Violence Erupts in Matamoros

MATAMOROS - The U.S. Consulate in Matamoros tonight issued a warning about gun battles and blockades throughout the city.
The consulate reported that residents have witnessed shootouts between the military and groups of armed men in the downtown area and Jardin neighborhood. Several blockades also were reported.
There have been reports of injuries as results of the violence, the consulate said.
