WESLACO - Surveillance video shows a 66-year-old man forgetting his wallet on a counter and another man taking it.
"He puts it inside the bag. You can see clearly there. So his intention is not to turn it in to lost and found," said J.P. Rodriguez of the Weslaco Police Department.
"Many times civilians forget about surveillance videos and surveillance systems. They don't know that they're being recorded. And I think this is a true test of an individual having to really look at the situation and decide am I doing the right thing, or am I doing the wrong thing. And sometimes doing the wrong thing, there's some consequences that follow."
Investigators are concerned the petty theft case could lead to more serious crimes, like identity theft. They released images from the surveillance video and hope someone can identify him.
