WESLACO - An outburst about a road project was the reason why members of the public were kicked out of a city council meeting, officials said.
The commission returned to the issue Tuesday night.
Officials say commissioner Olga Noriega tried to ask questions about the improvements to Sugar Cane Road last week but the majority cut her off and called for the vote. That led to a outburst from the crowd and everyone was ejected.
Noriega asked again about a drainage project involving a nearby school at tonight's meeting. City planning officials answered her questions.
The project was approved once again; this time in full view of the voting public.
Construction on Sugar Cane Road project should begin by next April or May.
