WESLACO - The fire marshal's office will investigate the cause of a morning fire in Weslaco. It happened at a home on the 1500 block of Westmont around 8:30 a.m.
Weslaco Fire Chief Santiago Cuellar told us there was heavy smoke coming out of the house and crews were able to put the fire out within 10 minutes.
Cuellar said they suspect recent plumbing work on an outside garden faucet may be to blame. "My understanding is that they were working to fix a faucet on the outside with copper piping. This fire was in between the walls in the vicinity," he told us.
No one was injured in the blaze. Cuellar said there was minimal damage inside.
