A Winter Texan couple claims the company that sold them their RV didn't provide them with the home they promised.
The Dutenhoeffers have been coming to the Valley for years. This is their home away from home. They purchased the trailer sitting on Lot 193 last year. They were told it would be ready when they moved down to the Valley.
"After coming down here and driving 1,500 miles and then turn around and go home and it's not completed like they promised, it would meant we spent about $1,800 on diesel fuel for the round trip and I took off work, my wife took off work and we lost wages plus $1,500, and we went home with nothing complete," says Duane Dutenhoeffer.
They've been here since December.
"The park model is still not finished. They've spent three days this week over here trying to get a leak finished and cut a hole on the side of the trailer. We just ended up with a mess," says Dutenhoeffer.
The Dutenhoeffers bought their home from Rose's RVs near Mission.
"Ms. Dutenhoeffer has had some legitimate complaints and we've attested every one of them and took care of them," says Rose Caroll, RV park owner.
Dutenhoeffer disagrees he showed us the areas that needed to be repaired.
"It's supposed to be bolted on instead of nailed," says Dutenhoeffer.
Caroll says her company has never had any issues. She says she's ready and willing to work with the Dutenhoeffers. Better Business Bureau President Dolores Salinas says she can help.
"My best advice to the consumer is that they file a compliant let us bring the compliant forward and give both side in writing and if necessary in this case their a accredited business if they remain in good standing we could offer mediation and arbitration," says Salinas.
The Dutenhoeffers have filed a complaint with the BBB. They hope something is done soon. They want to enjoy the Valley. They want to know they got what they paid for.
Rose's RVs has never had any complaints filed against them with the Better Business Bureau. Caroll says she's more than willing to speak with the Dutennhoeffers to straighten this situation out.
