BROWNSVILLE - A woman attacked by her own dogs has been released from a Brownsville hospital.

Josefina Ledesma was mulled by 29 dogs Thursday at her home on 17 Street near downtown Brownsville. The 61-year-old was trying to feed the animals when the attack happened.

Ledesma's sister also was mauled. She was released from a hospital a couple of days after the attack.

The dogs have been quarantined.

Officials said the women agreed to give up the dogs to avoid facing charges and fines.

Animal control officers said the dogs were malnourished.
