Jordan Williams co-anchors CHANNEL 5 NEWS THIS MORNING and reports for the evening newscasts.
In 2010 he won a Lone Star Emmy for his work on CHANNEL 5 NEWS THIS MORNING. The Headliners Foundation of Texas also honored Jordan in 2010 as Best TV Reporter in Texas. He has also received five first place awards from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters including best newscast, best anchor and best reporter. The Texas State Teachers Association and the Texas Child Protective Services have also recognized Jordan's efforts to educate the community about education and child abuse.
He joined KRGV as a reporter in January 2009 and immediately hit the streets to start investigating. Jordan strives to hold governments, elected leaders and businesses accountable. He has helped Valley cities and counties claim thousands of dollars in unclaimed money from state bank accounts. Jordan exposed a lockup loophole that allows municipal jails to operate under the radar - without standards and free from any state oversight. His report on "highway robbery" was nominated for a Lone Star Emmy. Jordan detailed what officers are allowed to take from drivers. The report found many law enforcement agencies count on seized cash and assets to stay afloat.
Jordan came to CHANNEL 5 NEWS after two years anchoring and reporting at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City. While in the Sooner state, Jordan got the chance to chase tornadoes and cover several snowstorms. He grew up in Southeast Texas and is happy to have escaped from the winter weather. Jordan started his career as a young college student working behind the scenes at KSAT-TV in San Antonio. He also worked as an anchor and reporter at KWES-TV in Midland.
He graduated with honors from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Arts in both communication and music. When he isn't reporting, you'll likely find Jordan sharing his love of music. He's an organist and plays for churches of all denominations, and occasionally, he even performs recitals.
