UCLA senior forward James Keefe will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks after suffering a left shoulder injury on Tuesday night.

The results of Keefe's MRI were negative, but there was some instability to the joint.

The 6-foot-8, 238-pounder averaged 3.0 points and 3.4 rebounds last season for the Bruins. He is one of three seniors on UCLA's 2009-10 roster.

"We are very relieved that the injury isn't going to be a long-term one," UCLA head coach Ben Howland said. "Everything looks to be intact and we are very happy for him and for the team."

Keefe had surgery to repair a torn labrum in the same shoulder on August 10, 2007. That injury kept him out for the first 12 games of the 2007-08 season.

UCLA opens the season with a home contest against Cal State Fullerton on November 16.
